UpDog Kombucha owners Olivia Wolff and Lauren Miller started selling kombucha out of their Wake Forest dorm room in Winston-Salem. Now they’re in yoga studios, gyms and local shops across Charlotte.
What sets them apart?
Besides the cute logo? The way they approach the kombucha scene. UpDog is mostly found in yoga studios, gyms and local markets, rather than traditional grocery stores. And while they do have bottles, UpDog is mostly served on tap. Olivia and Lauren set up the kegerators themselves.

Their mild flavors, rather than strong and vinegary ones, also set them apart. All of the flavors are named after yoga poses, like Happy Baby and Wild Thing. Olivia and Lauren’s shared love for yoga is what inspired the UpDog brand.

What else is UpDog up to?
UpDog has done several events and pop-ups with NC Yoga Bar and other local yoga studios, as well as with breweries.
On July 15, they’re teaming up with NC Yoga Bar and Sycamore Brewing for Yoga & A Boozy Brunch. Enjoy a 60-minute yoga class followed by brunch, beer-mosas, mimosas and prosecco pops. There will also be pop-up shops from local vendors (starts at 9 a.m., $5).
UpDog is also collaborating with Functional Fit in South End for their 6-week Get Fit Challenge. Click here for details.

What’s next for UpDog?
Right now, they’re taking it slow and focusing on their expansion in North Carolina. From there, they’d like to reach more locations along the East Coast.
These two young entrepreneurs are making a name for themselves in the Queen City. Show ’em some love.
