Hearty southern food presented on mismatched thrifted dishware makes dining at The Packhouse almost feel like a stop at grandma’s house.
That is, of course, if grandma is also mixing up $12 craft cocktails.
The Packhouse — the newest concept from Treehouse Kitchen, the parent company of The Summit Room and The Mayobird — will open this Thursday, July 6.
The restaurant pays tribute to owner Deedee Mills’ Carolina roots with reimagined classic southern fare served in a tobacco barn inspired setting.

The dining room’s rustic look was created using wood from old tobacco barns in eastern North Carolina.
Mills and her team dismantled four tobacco packhouses near her hometown of Williamston, a small town about four hours east of Charlotte.
The walls are covered floor to ceiling in these reclaimed wood panels and tobacco baskets hang from the rafters, giving the space a rustic barn feel.
If you haven’t caught on yet, a dramatic tobacco leaf bar situated under a wall-sized state flag hammers home the restaurant’s North Carolina theme.
