New nightclub and event space “World” will open at the Music Factory this fall

It’s official: “World” will take Label’s spot in the Music Factory, opening August 31.

Owner Gennaro Vitale has big plans to make World stand out from the crowd in the Charlotte mega-club scene.

The venue will be a nightclub on the weekends, but during the week, World will be available to rent for everything from private parties to corporate events.

Friday and Saturday club nights promise the biggest DJs and artists from all over the world, Vitale says.

World already has talent booked for its opening night and the following three nights of Labor Day weekend.

Vitale would not name the DJ that World has booked for the grand opening, but he said that “he’s one of the biggest DJs in the world.”

On the inside, Vitale plans significant renovations to improve the 18,000-square-foot space, including an upgraded sound system and new a light show.

He also plans to upgrade the patio and connect it to an adjacent room to make it larger and more free-flowing. This would make room for a pool, a feature that would open in the summer of 2018.

Vitale also owns Kandy Bar, the dessert bar and nightclub located in the EpiCentre. World will be the 25th nightclub Vitale has owned.

“I love Charlotte, I love the vibe,” Vitale said. “And I love World’s space. We can do a lot of great things there, and we’ll be a great addition to Charlotte’s night life.”
