Bank of America Plaza’s transformation is nearly complete

Over the past year, the Bank of America Plaza building has been undergoing significant renovations to put restaurants in at the ground level. While I loved the black glass and architecture of BofA Plaza, it wasn’t very welcoming to passers-by.

Well, the building owners decided to do something about it and we’re now close to seeing the finished product. Gorgeous granite, glass and other top-notch materials now line the sidewalks to greet pedestrians — with plenty of retail to invite them in.

Thus far two tenants are on board with Eddie V’s (seafood) taking the Trade/Tryon corner and Devon & Blakely (funky market) taking the corner on the other side.

Two spots remain, totaling around 10,000 square feet of space. These spaces could be combined, but I’m hoping to see two completely different and unique tenants.

The corner space (directly on Tryon) is about 6,000 square feet and has some great patio opportunities as well as insanely high 20-foot ceilings. Uptown needs a French restaurant badly, so I would love for one to go here.

The remaining 4,000 square feet represents arguably the most exciting opportunity in Uptown. It is below the building in the old bank vault, accessible via an incredible glass elevator and staircase. This just seems made for a speakeasy of some kind. I know the term speakeasy is being spread like wildfire, but I think this space is perfect for it.

Brooks Bailey from CBRE is currently marketing those remaining two spots and is looking for the right tenant(s). I have faith they will be the right fit, as everything about this project has been on point.
