CMPD Animal Care & Control officially opened its new Kitten Nursery yesterday.
The grant-funded facility, located inside the main shelter at 8315 Byrum Drive, can accommodate up to 20 litters of orphaned kittens.
It can also accommodate me. Forever. Until I die.
Now they’re looking for volunteers to help provide round-the-clock care for the kittens that are too young to be adopted or fostered.
This involves bottle feeding them about every two hours.
SIGN. ME. UP.
If you think you’d be a great kitten nurse, get in line.
So far, more than 2,000 people have submitted volunteer applications to work with the kittens. But due to the heavy demand of the workload, CMPD says the more volunteers, the better.
Volunteering in the Kitten Nursery requires a minimum 1-hour commitment and a criminal history check.
