Charlotteans overwhelmingly think they’ll stay in their current house for the rest of their lives

The days of starter homes — or downsizing in retirement — appear to be over, at least in Charlotte.
79 percent of homeowners in Charlotte say they could stay in their current house the rest of their lives, according to a new report from Bank of America released this week.
That’s more than any other city surveyed in the Bank of America Homebuyer Insights Report, including Boston, New York City, Miami, Chicago, St. Louis, Houston, Denver, Dallas and Phoenix.
Realtors should also take note: 42 percent of Charlotteans in the survey said they planned to buy their first house in the next two years. More than half had already started saving for a down payment.
