Bland new name, but still pretty much the same old Ed’s Tavern

Bourbon N Burgers opened Wednesday after a whirlwind remodel that ended the iconic Ed’s Tavern name in Dilworth.
Axios Charlotte readers have a lot of feelings about the new name, so I felt compelled to go there (re)opening night to see what all had changed.
[Agenda story: Oh boy, looks like Dilworth favorite Ed’s Tavern changing name to Bourbon N Burgers]
The verdict: Not a whole lot. Besides the name, it’s really only an improvement.
The menu is slimmed down and classed up.
The burger selection is largely intact.

Gone are the hot dogs, and some of the more kitschy pub fare. The desserts are gone, too.
But thankfully the Southwest Egg Rolls ($8) are still there. Be sure to order those.

A big new addition: the cocktail menu.
Bourbon-heavy, as you might expect. Reasonably priced, too, with $10 being the top of the line.

The straight bourbon selection is pretty solid, too, though if you’re looking for the rare stuff you’ll have to ask for it and hope to get lucky. Eagle Rare, Angel’s Envy and the Four Roses single barrel are all pleasant sipping bourbons.

I went with the Kentucky Frontier Mule because it was nice outside.
Here’s the rest of the menu.

The interior was largely untouched.
There are a few new light fixtures and new wallpaper in a few places.
The patio is glorious.
Truly a stellar addition to the Dilworth restaurant scene.
