Oak Steakhouse opening March 31 in SouthPark. High ceilings and interior wood paneling looking gorgeous.

Oak Steakhouse is owned and operated by the Indigo Group, the same people that just successfully launched O-Ku Sushi in South End.

“We’re excited to bring the same level of service and hospitality that we brought to O-Ku and that is present in all of our restaurants,” said Indigo Group Partner Steve Palmer. “Hospitality is how we make people feel and we love making people feel welcome.”

Here’s a look around at Oak’s current construction status.

When I asked Steve about Oak’s most popular menu items, he responded, “Our Certified Angus Beef Prime Dry-Aged Ribeye and our Colorado Rack of Lamb.”

I’ll be trying Oak’s menu item named the Mixed Grill ($57). It’s a 5oz. filet, 7oz. prime NY strip, 1 double Colorado lamb chop, brussels sprouts, cipollini onions with rosemary bordelaise. Yum.

Charlotte Magazine reported that Indigo Group has brought from Charleston to Charlotte a chef named Alex Jenkins to run the kitchen at Oak. Alex told Charlotte Magazine to expect a modern steakhouse menu along with Charleston’s hit octopus appetizer, fresh pork ravioli and pasta Bolognese.

Oak Steakhouse will be across the street from the two-story Starbucks (with a drive-thru) that’s currently also under construction and plans to open later this spring.

I give Pappas Properties credit – even though the building architecture feels corporate and cookie-cutter, they’ve somehow managed to corral Dogwood Southern Table, Rusty Bucket, Corkbuzz, Whole Foods, Starbucks and now Oak Steakhouse within about 100 yards of each other.

Call me crazy, but this street could become SouthPark’s version of Montford.
