There’s certainly no shortage of coffee shops in Charlotte but when you’re looking for a change of pace and scenery, these cozy suburban shops are the perfect escape.
Caravan Coffee
Address: 7 S. Main Street, Belmont, NC 28012
Caravan is located in downtown Belmont, which is just over the Catawba River about 15 miles west of Charlotte. The last time I was in I remember my jaw dropping at how low the bill was for coffee for my mom and me. Small town living, man.

Summit Coffee
Address: 128 S. Main Street, Davidson, NC 28036 | 120 Patterson Court Circle, Davidson NC 28035
Summit has two locations in downtown Davidson — the original, which opened almost 20 years ago in a 100-year-old building on Main Street, and another inside a repurposed fraternity house on campus at Davidson College. The campus location (known as the Outpost) features a full menu with a weekly rotating menu.

Rocky River Coffee
Address: 4350 Main Street, Harrisburg, NC 28075
This charming corner shop with a lighted pergola on the patio adds personality and warmth to what could otherwise be a sterile development. Must try coffee companion: The Cookie Skillet, a made-to-order deep-dish chocolate chip cookie topped with ice cream.

Catawba Coffee Co.
Address: 117 N. Main Street, Mount Holly, NC 28120
They’ve got breakfast sandwiches, assorted baked goods and grab-and-go lunch options. Try one of the inventive specialty lattes like birthday cake, banana bread or Nutella mocha.

Studio Coffee
Address: 501 S. Old Statesville Road, Huntersville, NC 28078
Ok, so the official address isn’t on Main Street but this cafe inside an art studio is only about a block off and can’t be overlooked. Studio Coffee hit the scene in Huntersville last summer and has quickly become a local favorite. The homey interior has a living room vibe and the exterior is extremely Instagrammable.

Mugshots Coffee and Tea
Address: 102 S. Main Street, Belmont, NC 28012
[Updated 3:15 p.m. 3/7/17] After publishing this story, I received an email from a new coffee shop owner in Belmont. His cafe, Mugshots, just opened a couple weeks ago and serves coffee, tea and his own small-batch kombucha. Can’t wait to check it out.
