Go inside Haberdish at brunch

The restaurant opens at 11:30 a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

After debuting in December, online reviews from early adopter diners prove that Haberdish has created a strong initial impression – 4.6/5 on Yelp, 4.8/5 on Facebook and 4.7/5 on Google.

Haberdish is Jeff Tonidandel’s newest restaurant (the guy behind Crepe Cellar and Growlers Pourhouse). It’s absolutely gorgeous from the moment you step inside. The rustic furniture, the copper silverware, the jars of pickled veggies on display. Everything is perfectly picked out and placed.

But obviously you’re here to see pics of my brunch, so here you go.

Smoked Deviled Eggs ($4)

Smoked whites, chives, paprika. Absolutely delicious. I love the smoky flavor.

House Pickles ($4)

Your choice of dill, bread and butter, or the daily flavor. I chose dill, and I chose right.

Tangy and definitely pack a garlicky punch.

Kale Grits ($4)

Slow-cooked Anson Mills grits with creamed kale. The grits had a little more crunch than I like but great flavor.

Don’t let the color scare you. I personally think this dish is very pretty.

Charred Okra ($4)

Cast-iron charred with bacon jam. I prefer my okra fried or pickled and yearned for more of a bacon flavor, so probably won’t order this one again.

Chicken & Waffles ($12)

Haberdish’s signature brined, battered, and fried chicken with a pearl sugar waffle.

Served only on Sundays.

The chicken is juicy, crispy, and delicious, and is served with a house-made hot sauce. The dish also comes with a sweet honey sorghum syrup.

The Haberdish waffle itself is very unique as it’s made with dough rather than batter. The homemade dough rises for a couple of hours before parsed and made into waffles. The pearl sugar crystals will take you by surprise if you aren’t prepared for a hard crunch in certain bites. Don’t knock it ‘til you try it, but I’ll probably just stick with the chicken next time (and save the waffle for dessert).

Love Potion #10 ($10)

Strawberry rose syrup, champagne, vodka, lemon (yum).

It wasn’t clear if any of the drinks automatically include the beautiful ice sphere, so I requested it in this drink. Gorgeous and fun and fancy and a huge hit on Instagram.

And if you’re heading to Haberdish with group looking for a boozy brunch option – good news, they’re working on shareable punch bowls (not available yet).

Haberdish is a different type of Charlotte experience and worth the visit.

 Go eat pickles and chicken, and order flower ice in your drink. Then sit back and enjoy the view.
