Almost every Saturday morning, I go explore Charlotte with my 2-year-old son.

After hours of research and many explorations gone wrong – here’s my list of the top 3 odd (but amazing) places to bring a toddler on a Saturday morning.
SouthPark Mall
Neighborhood: SouthPark
Agenda Toddler Exploration Pro Tips:
- Force your toddler to run, run, run – so that she shows off her speed to the older people that walk the mall on Saturday mornings to get their exercise.
- Hit up the fountain and the piano.
- Bother the Microsoft people who are setting up the television outside the store so that they turn it on early so that your toddler can zone out to the video games.
- Ride the escalator. Again and again.
- Go to the miniature park in front of Dick’s Sporting Goods.
- Go inside Dick’s Sporting Goods and work on your putting as your toddler bangs all the putters together and the sales representatives get angry.

Ballantyne Hotel
Neighborhood: Ballantyne
Agenda Toddler Exploration Pro Tips:
- Grab a glass of the water with fruit near the front desk to quench your thirst.
- Enjoy the majestic views of the lobby from the second floor.
- Go for an elevator ride near the conference rooms.
- And of course, run the near endless hallways.

Sycamore Brewing – Breakfast Events
Neighborhood: South End
Agenda Toddler Exploration Pro Tips:
- No lines for beers! Don’t feel guilt if you drink a 9 a.m. beer – unless you drink more than one with a toddler – then you likely have a problem.
- Go walk the Rail Trail and watch your toddler obsess over the light rail as the trains fly by.
- Share a breakfast sandwich from the food trucks.
- Stroll to Atherton Market at grab a coffee from Not Just Coffee and watch your toddler run through the market and almost knock over everything.
- Proudly watch your toddler dance to the live music while secretly enjoying the fact that the hungover young people are not amused.
