Your favorite Saturday morning spot is about to get a little tastier with the expansion of Zia Pia and its addition of a new hot pasta bar.
The boutique importer of artisanal Italian ingredients is in the midst of taking over the space that used to house Meat & Fish Co. in the back of the 7th Street Public Market.

Victoria Zabel, owner of Zia Pia, told the Agenda that she’d been considering the next move for the shop for a while and believes that making the space home will “complete the last piece of the ‘chain'”.
In addition to the retail store, which will continue to stock the same products, down to the pasta, oils, tomatoes, spreads and chocolates, the shop will be serving pasta in a “simple” fashion using their own ingredients in a choose-your-own setting with a rotating menu and providing a grab-and-go selection of meals.
When it comes to the pasta bar, Zabel calls the execution “simple and authentic,” true to the shop using their own ingredients. A kid’s menu will also be available with items like spaghetti.
The grab-and-go selection will be a surefire hit, with “fresh and healthy” ready-made options like paninis, salads and freezable entrees like lasange and stuffed shells. As always, the food will be made in-house with Zia Pia’s own ingredients and locally sourced produce.

Though exact pricing for both ventures has yet to be determined, Zabel says her goal is to keep it consistent with other Market vendors, with everything being priced by item and “in line” with what shoppers would expect to spend elsewhere in the Market.
“The goal is to be accessible,” she explained.
Zabel has been eyeing a January open date, but has been working through construction delays and expects to begin serving in the next couple of weeks.
