While Uptown, South End and Plaza Midwood have given birth to fancy new apartment complexes, it’s surprising that we haven’t seen an A+ offering within walking distance of Montford – until now.
The Abbey Apartments are set to open their doors to renters in late February or early March.

Location
Because the entrance is tucked about 75 yards back from Park Road, this massive apartment village has gone under the radar. Stinks for their marketing department, but it’s a great advantage for renters looking for a little more quiet setting.
The location is unbelievable and Spectrum investors must be on Zillow looking at second homes in Asheville because they’re about to make a ton of money on this offering. The leasing team already has about 120 leads and they haven’t even started their big marketing push.
As if they needed it, Viva Chicken, Jimmy Johns, Brawley’s (meet Brawley), Pasta and Provisions and Smashburger (coming soon) will all be on The Abbey side of Park Road and about 200 yards from the apartment complex.

The Abbey is an easy 5 minute, 500 yard walk from Montford and about a 10 minute walk to world-dominating Park Road Shopping Center.
There’s also a traffic light and sidewalk all the way to Montford so that residents don’t die trying to cross Park Road after drinking a bucket of Bud Lights from Angry Ale’s.

Money, Features & Amenities
The Abbey Apartments have 13 different floor plan options ranging from a 1 bed, 1 bath, 606 square foot unit ($1,079 – $1,199) to a 3 bed, 2 bath, 1,323 square foot unit ranging from $2,399 – $2,649.

Amenities include all of your typical Charlotte pampered apartment renter trappings: resort style saltwater pool with sun shelf, pool cabanas, private park, outdoor TV lounge, hammock garden, fire pit, outdoor kitchen/grills, lead-free pet park, yoga room, extra large fitness center, Wi-Fi business lounge with iMacs, and club lounge with juice bar, local coffee and shuffleboard.
Features include: plank flooring, private balconies, front door trash valet, full-sized washer/dryer, stainless steel appliances, two designer kitchen packages, parking and up to 13 foot ceilings.
The apartment amenities arms race is getting ridiculous and I love it.

Two interesting things to note is that Spectrum installed a keyless entry system on each unit and that the fitness center and yoga room are legit because their philosophy is that residents actually use the fitness center and if developed correctly, they’ll be able to cancel their gym memberships (I found this smart).

The Abbey’s amenities, walkability to Montford and location (will draw professionals working in SouthPark, Uptown or even Ballantyne) – I anticipate the apartment complex to be a hit in Charlotte.
