A beloved dive bar in Plaza Midwood has released its Men of the Thirsty Beaver 2017 calendar just in time for the holiday season.
The 14-month calendar features “a diverse and motley crew of Beaver regulars” in what can best be described as seductive poses. (Meet the men here.)
What a time to be alive.

The calendar is a charitable fundraiser for Be the Match Bone Marrow Registry, a nonprofit dedicated to finding bone marrow donors for people with blood cancers.
Thirsty Beaver has raised $35,000 for charitable causes since 2008 with its annual May Bash fundraiser. But they had to come up with a new idea this year now that space for that festival isn’t available anymore.
And that, boys and girls, is how a wild and jokingly risque calendar is born.

Thirsty Beaver, which has been open since 2008, has fought hard to hold its ground along the rapidly developing Central Avenue corridor.
Plans for a 5-story, 300-unit condo in its place threatened to close The Beav for good but owners (and brothers) Mark and Brian Wilson as well as the owners of the property refused to sell. Instead, a condo was literally built up around the quirky little orange building.
If you look closely in the photo below, you can see the Thirsty Beaver himself peeking up over the construction surrounding the building. Nothing can shake that toothy grin and friendly wave.
So in addition to being a charitable fundraiser, the calendar is also a celebration of how the Thirsty Beaver and its dedicated regulars fought hard to stay open.
