New taco + tequila restaurant named Que Onda now open in Uptown

Uptown’s newest tacos and tequila restaurant named Que Onda opened its doors on Tuesday.

The name Que Onda is Mexican slang for “What’s up?”

The menu features street tacos (three for about $10), salads ($7ish), tortas ($10ish), enchiladas/burritos ($12ish). Guacamole costs $8.95.

The owner told me that the restaurant will be known for their street tacos and that he recommends the Coca Cola Carnitas Tacos – pulled pork, pickled onion, side salsa habanero ($9.95).

This taco and tequila restaurant is taking the Uptown space formerly occupied by The Mandrake on the corner of Trade and Mint (333 W Trade Street).

Hours are Sunday – Thursday 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. and Friday/Saturday 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

The bar features a huge selection of tequilas and Mexican + Latin-inspired cocktails such as hand squeezed margaritas and freshly muddled mojitos.

The house margarita costs $8.50, beers run from $4.95-$5.95 and tequilas are $7-$15.

Que Onda will feature daily lunch specials from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. and includes a taco meal, enchilada meal, burrito, 1/2 torta soup, 1/2 torta salad.

Other daily specials include:

  • Monday –  1/2 off bottles of house wines
  • Tuesday – $2 tacos, $3 Mexican drafts, $4 local drafts
  • Wednesday – $5 Mojito Cubanos
  • Thursday – $5 house margaritas
