Dilworth Coffee’s newest location in the Fifth Third Center on North Tryon is aiming for an early January opening, owner Trish Field told the Agenda on Wednesday.
Demolition of the existing space has been completed and remodeling efforts have begun, the next step being to sand and polish the floors.
“We’re definitely moving in the right direction,” Field said.

Since the beginning of October, employees in the building have been taking advantage of a temporary kiosk in the lobby to fill the void left behind by the previous coffee store, which left after over 15 years.
Field also calls it an effort to get the 6,000 people in the building used to the brand.

While the kiosk doesn’t have room for a full coffee bar or extensive food options, Field promises the opposite once the store opens. She’s expecting a full coffee bar with coffee and espresso drinks, smoothies and more as well as food options that range from breakfast sandwiches to salads and wraps.
The space will also have low ceilings to provide a better meeting place when it comes to noise levels, a lounge area and views of the back courtyard.

The kiosk will be in place until the store opens and closes at 3 p.m., which Field calls their “biggest inconvenience.” When the full store is operational, she expects to close nearer to 4:30 p.m. every day.
