Central Coffee is finally open in South End

It’s long amazed me that South End didn’t have a true, blue coffee shop.

Yes, there is The Gallery and Not Just Coffee at Atherton Mill (both of which I absolutely love) but there is no Coco and the Director, no Not Just Coffee at HQ Charlotte — not even a Starbucks in South End. Millennials need their coffee!

Well all that is about to change.

Central Coffee is opening its doors today and I (and my girlfriend) could not be more excited. Opening a second location, Central Coffee will be located at Kingston and Camden and they have an incredible fanbase from their Plaza Midwood location. I have no doubts they will knock it out of the park here in South End.

The space is inviting, and is everything I envision in coffee shop.

Plenty of tables, free wifi, pastries and of course, delicious coffee. This space is much bigger than their Plaza Midwood venue and this one even has some private space that can be reserved.

One underrated thing I love is their hours.

Monday through Saturday they will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday. It is well known that Charlotte has a M-F, 9-5 issue and it’s great to see this going away with each new opening.

Having these hours will allow Central Coffee to really cater to and embrace South End and I can imagine this being busy virtually all day (please note, they will be soft opening for a bit before they extend into the full hours).

You can expect the same menu that they have at their Plaza Midwood location, which consists of items like scones, muffins and baklava.

Their owner informed me that in 2017 they will explore opening up the menu and adding sandwich-type items.

Note: They still will be putting finishing touches on the space such as wall art, chalkboard menu and other little things that are not represented in these photos.
