The holiday season is finally here and I can feel the Christmas cheer mixed with complaints about premature holiday music coming now. Exciting! Here are the events you can’t miss this November – chronologically, so you can hit them all.

3rd Annual 100 Words Film Festival
Date/Price/Location: Fri-Sat, November 4-5 / $15 / Uptown Charlotte’s McGlohon Theater
Why you should go: The festival will present exclusive premieres, in every genre, from filmmakers around the world, ranging from Academy Award nominated directors to student filmmakers. The catch? Each film must be exactly 100 words long. So if you want to feel like a fancy film connoisseur, this event is all you.
Strange Brew

Date/Price/Location/Time: Saturday, November 5 / $20 / The Unknown Brewing Company / 6:30-10 p.m.
Why you should go: This event will include a plethora of breweries participating in an epic adventure to compete against one another by brewing, filtering or infusing the strangest beers ever created. With your ticket you will be able to try every one of the brews, several times, and vote on your favorite one. Expect live music, fire entertainment, strange foods and tarot card readings.

Southern Christmas Show
Date/Price/Location: November 10-20 / $3-$12 / The Park Expo and Conference Center
Why you should go: Have you been counting down the days until Christmas since December 26th? Well November is the month for you. Imagine, over 400 merchants offering gifts, food, local wine and holiday decorations all ready to help you spread some Christmas cheer.
2nd Annual A Shot in the Dark Night Race
Date/Price/Location/Time: Friday, November 11 / $30-$42 / USNWC / 6:15 p.m.

Why you should go: Once the sun has set and the trails are dark, you’ll take on the 5k or 10k distance through the trail system along the Catawba River. As a stubborn non-runner, this is the first 5k that sounded fun enough to try. The fact that there will be post-race s’mores, hot chocolate and beers by a bonfire had nothing to do with that interest.
Patriotic Pops
Date/Price/Location/Time: Fri-Sat, November 11-12 / $17-$123 / Knight Theater / 8 p.m.

Why you should go: Celebrate Veteran’s Day with the Charlotte Symphony. If you haven’t seen the Symphony perform, this is the time to do it. They’ll play some seriously powerful music paired with images from both World Wars.
Michelle’s Mighty Mission: All You Can Eat Low Country Boil, Bottomless Brews & Stout Home Brewing Contest
Date/Price/Location/Time: Saturday, November 19 / $30-$140 / Sugar Creek Brewing / 3-7 p.m.

Why you should go: Expect a community dinner with bottomless brews and a stout home brewing contest, benefiting Michelle Pratt and the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation. The event’s home brewing contest winner will collaborate with the Sugar Creek team to brew their winning recipe on the brewery’s 15 barrel system. Even cooler? The winning stout will be served on draught in Sugar Creek’s tap room.
Bonus: The brewery will also have a dunk tank, balloon artist and live music.

Beer Quest
Date/Price/Location/Time: Saturday, November 19 / $50-$90 / BB&T Ballpark / 12-5 p.m.
Why you should go: Beer Quest will be unique in that all the beers served will be hand selected and curated to fall into a specific beer path for you to choose from. You’ll be able to sample beers from across as many paths as you want, since your ticket will include a tasting glass and unlimited four-ounce tastings from more than 75 beers. I started hydrating for this yesterday.
VTGCLT Winter Market
Date/Price/Location/Time: Sunday, November 20 / $2-$7 / The Fillmore / 10-5 p.m.
Why you should go: Amy Herman’s Vintage Charlotte program was just voted ‘Best Pop-Up Retail Event’ and it’s back again this holiday season. Expect local vendors specializing in vintage and handcrafted goods, as well as a heavy food truck presence.

Charlotte Christmas Village
Date/Price/Location: Thursday, November 24 / Free / Romare Bearden Park
Why you should go: Imagine Uptown Charlotte’s Romare Bearden Park transformed into a twinkling European-inspired Christmas market from Thanksgiving Day until Christmas Eve. Expect wooden huts with vendors, mulled wine, food, dance and choral performances at this authentic German christkindlmarkt.

2016 Novant Health Thanksgiving Day Parade
Date/Price/Location/Time: Thursday, November 24 / Free-$20 / North on Tryon St. from Stonewall St. to 9th St. / 9:30 a.m.
Why you should go: This annual tradition has entertained Charlotteans since 1947. Expect dance and choral performances, marching bands, floats and plenty of balloons. Pro tip: buy tickets for front row seats during the parade so you don’t have to wake up extra early.
