If you’ve lived in Charlotte awhile, you’ve probably been to The Mint Museum once or twice. You’ve walked through the galleries, ooh’ed and ahh’ed at the beautiful works of art and you think you’ve seen all there is to see. Been there, done that – amirite?
Think again.
There are surprisingly a lot of different ways to experience The Mint Museum, from yoga to guided book club tours. They are even hosting a liquor tasting event with Doc Porter’s Distillery. Even though it’s about to turn 80 years old, this ain’t your mama’s Mint.
Here’s how you can enjoy the Mint in a whole new way.

That’s right, free yoga is offered to Mint members every Wednesday at 5:30 p.m., or yoga passports are available for purchase from NC Yoga Bar. After class, wander through the galleries at no cost.
(2) With your Bumble date

The Mint makes a great date spot. The galleries are open free every Wednesday until 9 p.m. at both locations. Watch for other special evening events such as Latin Music Concerts and exhibition-related parties such as the upcoming Creatively Crafted, Artfully Distilled event on January 18. Check here for their amazing fall lineup of exhibitions.
(3) On the road

You can catch a free shuttle between two Mint locations every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Enjoy the free parking at Mint Museum Randolph, and remember your admission is valid for two days if you need more time.
(4) While channeling your inner Warhol

Once a month, come in for Sunday Fun Day and try out family-friendly, hands-on art projects designed by Mint educators. You can also peruse the galleries, catch artist demos and participate in Let’s Move! yoga sessions. You can end up leaving with your very own masterpiece.
(5) With your book club

The program features a different book for a five-month period and offer guided tours based around the book. This season’s theme is Pride & Prejudice but visit here for future themes and titles.

Don’t forget, Mint Museum Uptown is part of Levine Center for the Arts, also home to the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art, Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts + Culture, and Blumenthal Performing Arts’ Knight Theater. Visit two museums with a reciprocal admission discount; or buy one Levine Center for the Arts pass for $20 and visit all three museums. Visit levinecenterarts.org for more, and #LongLiveArts!
Bonus: In honor of the museum’s 80 anniversary, you can enjoy the Mint for free at both locations on Saturday and Sunday this weekend. Go get cultured, CLT.
