Say hello to $2 happy hour tacos in Dilworth

Babalu now offers $2 tacos from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Our Agenda team recently went their on a field trip to taste test tacos. Babalu’s tacos are normally $3 each.

Here’s three quick recommendations for happy hour at Babalu.

(1) Sit on the patio.

Big fan of the bar that spans both inside and outside. Also, the outdoor tables with sofas are ideal for a group of four. We went there on a Thursday around 5 p.m. and it wasn’t crowded at all.

(2) Order the guacamole.

It’s delicious and made table-side. It’s $9.99, but pull the trigger.

(3) Order one of each type of taco.

This was the perfect order for a group of four. Each person then drafted tacos, which was awkwardly exciting and made for pleasant chit chat. Babalu offers 13 different types of tacos. Here’s a list of their 10 most popular tacos (not in order):

  • Ollo –  House smoked Joyce Farms mole chicken, smoked corn pico de gallo, cotija cheese, goat cheese crema
  • Carne La Vaca – Aspen Ridge Natural Beef tenderloin, pico, salsa roja, cotija cheese
  • Carnitas – Citrus braised pulled pork, roasted peanut slaw, salsa roja, pickled red onions
  • Carne De Cedro – Smoked Compart Farms pork belly, chipotle-citrus BBQ sauce, roasted peanut slaw, cotija cheese
  • Vegetal – Yellow squash, zucchini, crimini mushrooms, grilled red onion ring, red chimichurri, arugula, cotija cheese (add smoked mole chicken $2.95)
  • Atun – Diced tuna, fresno slaw, Sriracha lime crema, ponzu, crispy tortilla strips
  • Redfish – Blackened or fried Gulf redfish, fresno pepper slaw, jalapeno-poblano vinaigrette, radish
  • Camarones – Grilled or fried Gulf shrimp, cilantro slaw, radish, comeback
  • Ostra – Flash-fried Gulf oysters, hot sauce slaw, comeback
  • De Pato – Orange and soy braised duck, cilantro vinegar slaw, soy Sambal glaze, toasted sesame seeds

Wash them down with their house margarita – Baba-Rita (Patron Silver tequila, agave nectar, fresh-squeezed sour mix, POM, triple sec). Enjoy!
