I never knew Charlotte was such a crab city, until I stumbled across CrabToberFest’s Facebook Page.
Over 16,000 Charlotteans are interested in CrabToberFest – an all you can eat blue crab event at Unknown Brewery – taking place on the afternoon of Saturday October 29th.
Oh, and there’s only 500 tickets available at $40 per ticket for adults and $10 per ticket for children under 12 years old. The event is so popular that there are two shifts, noon to 3:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tickets cannot be purchased at the door.
The event is produced by The Carolina Food Market and they expect between 5,000 – 7,000 North Carolina Blue Crabs will be consumed at this event. That’s a lot of freaking crabs. They’ll also serve up steamed corn, red potatoes and Halloween costume prizes.

Why is CrabToberFest so popular?
“We believe that people have a love affair with blue crabs, this, coupled with their inability to get fresh, quality blue crab in North Carolina has created a buzz,” explained Jim Seidel, Owner of The Carolina Food Market. “In addition, the whole experience of sitting around with friends and family, drinking beer and eating blue crabs brings back great memories for those who now live in Charlotte but grew up along the coast doing just this.”
CrabToberFest started off as a simple conversation between Jim and his local crab supplier about events they’ve experienced in the Southeast. The Carolina Food Market partners with the Tailgaters Crab Feast because of their expertise in steaming blue crabs in large quantities.
Jim’s advice to CrabToberFest goers? “Bring an appetite, your friends, and your family. Be prepared to get a little messy…”
