I always loved the Charlotte Hornets scoreboard in Time Warner Cable arena — especially the model Uptown skyline.
Well, it’s a season of change. The arena is now called the Spectrum Center and the old scoreboard has been removed in favor of a new, skyline-less edition.
The skyline was actually two sets of models of 13 buildings, built in 2005.
Each is between 5 and 20 feet tall and weigh 75 to 150 pounds, according to the city.
Here’s the lineup:
Westin Hotel,
Hilton Hotel
Cameron Brown
Odell Plaza
Charlotte Plaza
Carillon
Three Wells Fargo
Fifth Third Bank
City Club
Bank of America building
Hearst Tower
One Wells Fargo
Bank of America Corporate Center
The Hornets now have a new scoreboard.
Paid in part by Charlotte taxpayers. It was part of a slate of renovations partially funded with city money needed to lure the NBA All-Star Game. You know how that turned out.
The new scoreboard will be unveiled Friday but looks like this.

One set of models of old skyline will be handed over to Charlotte Center City Parters for a parade float.
The other set of 13 will be loaned out, starting with a stint at the Charlotte Museum of History.
The city council should approve the transfer at next week’s meeting.
