After two years of business, The Beer Growler in South End has announced that it’s closing its doors.
The Beer Growler launched in 2014 as a locally owned franchise of an Atlanta-based chain. In those ensuing two years, the number of bottle shops and growler stations in Charlotte has exploded.
The business’s last day will be August 15.
The business was not forced out.
The Beer Growler has a prime location on the edge of South End and Dilworth (though access is a bit of an issue). In several instances in the center city, businesses have been displaced as landlords seek higher-paying tenants or to redevelop property.
The business said that didn’t happen in this case. They said via Twitter that it was a “tough business decision” to close up shop.
The Beer Growler served flights, but not pints, in the taproom.
Business owners did not respond to a request for comment.
Look for discounts, etc. in the coming week.
The Beer Growler will seek to liquidate its inventory. No word yet on whether there will be a farewell party.
