What to expect at a creative journaling and planning class in Charlotte

Symone McGee journaling

I have the worst handwriting.

I am a serious girly girl but the one thing I struggle with is cute handwriting. Love notes, thank you cards, grocery lists…. anytime that I have to use a pen/pencil/quill there is sure to be disaster to follow (well maybe that’s a little dramatic… but you understand)

To remedy this situation, I found Karlie Winchell’s Creative Hand Lettering class at C3 Labs and decided to sign up. Mainly because I’m a go big or go home type of person and those curvy letters are just so intriguing.

Unfortunately, well for me at least, Karlie’s classes sell out super quick and being on the waiting list sounded a lot like cruel and unusual punishment. I went for the next available class which was Creative Journaling and Planning. Best. Decision. Ever.

Journaling has become one of those things I love to do, but I never tell anyone because it’s not snapchat worthy. Karlie’s class turned out to be the perfect place for me to let it all hang out… of my journal.

Karlie is the sweetest person ever.

You know those people that you could literally listen to for hours and not get bored? Where even the most mundane tasks sound exciting because they’re SO excited about them? That’s how Karlie is… she got super pumped about lettering ribbons and I found a new passion for drawing them. She gives very detailed instructions and stops to help people like me who struggle with basic print.

You get organized.

Karlie gives you a ton of tips to organize things I never knew you could organize. I NOW have a section in my planner where I track my water intake for the day…you know because hydration is KEY. Taking the time to get creative makes you actually want to open that planner thats been collecting dust since January.

You keep track of special memories.

We are halfway through the year and I still think its April most days. In this class, you learn how to create memory pages for the month that highlight all of the little and big things you found special. You can add movie tickets, pictures, cards…. anything that makes you go “aww June was a good month.” Now, instead of tossing your planner at the end of the year you can save it… ahhh nostalgia.

All in all, this was a cool way to do something different after work, learn something beneficial, and chat with busy women who are trying to make it happen like you! Also, fellas are invited too… sign up and learn how to handwrite your girl a love note, Karlie also does V-Day card classes.
