5-time Olympic gold medalist swimmer and Charlotte resident Ryan Lochte is on Tinder

Team USA Olympic swimmer (and sometimes model) Ryan Lochte has been living in Charlotte since 2013.

He’s been training under David Marsh, head coach of SwimMAC Carolina, who keeps him on a strict, six-days-per-week schedule.

When he isn’t in the water or at the gym, he’s doing what every other single 31-year-old guy in Charlotte is doing: taking trips to Biltmore, buying cars at Metrolina Auto Group, taking in the sights at the Whitewater Center and hanging out with his dogs (Yeezy and Carter) and Greg Olsen.

Correction: Most other single 31-year-old guys.

And yes, he’s dating. In an interview with Cosmo, he revealed that he’s tried Bumble and Raya (a dating app used exclusively by the rich and famous) but deactivated both profiles fairly quickly.

Bumble is famous for letting women make the first move – a man can’t send the first message and if a woman hasn’t reached out to her match in 24 hours, the match disappears. This proved to be a problem for Lochte, who doesn’t “really like that” sort of thing, as it’s “not the woman’s job.”

His venture into the world of Raya didn’t last long either, which he blames on distance.

“I’m living in Charlotte so that didn’t really work because most of the women you link up with are either in L.A. or New York,” he told the magazine.

So he got a Tinder – and, despite recently being linked to Playboy model Kayla Rae Reid, is actually using it.

In his words, he’s been swiping right and matching with “a bunch of gorgeous women” in Charlotte who are smart, career-minded and impressive, but he hasn’t been on any dates yet.

What is he looking for? An interesting biography section that includes what you do for a living (goals are important to him) and your Instagram handle so he can get a better idea of who you are and how you present yourself.

Oh, and he wants someone that’s the same on-screen as in real life. His worst date so far was with a girl that was funny and charismatic in text messages, but found out at dinner that she was a “dud” that didn’t have anything to say.

It may have ruined the dinner, but that’s okay – he got to “eat a lot.” Always a silver lining, right?
