Looking for a laid-back date? Pack a blanket, order some food and head to Freedom Park. It’s a great spot for people-watching and soaking up some vitamin D. Pro tip: Get sandwiches from Laurel Market in nearby Myers Park.

While the whitewater channels might be closed temporarily, the rest of the center is open and offers tons of fun activities for two. Rent a couple of bikes or bring your own and hit the trails. Afterward, grab a bite to eat at River’s Edge Bar & Grill and watch the sun set. Boom.
(3) Catch a Charlotte Knights baseball game at BB&T Ballpark

A Friday night at BB&T Ballpark is an ideal summer date. Beer, great food, even better people-watching and fireworks at the end. Plus, it’s a casual atmosphere, perfect for getting to know each other.

Set just off of Lake Wylie, on nearly 400 acres, this is one of the most scenic places around. Spend an afternoon exploring and then grab dinner in charming downtown Belmont. Try Nellie’s Southern Kitchen, which is owned by the Jonas Brothers’ dad, Kevin. Pro tip: On Thursday nights DSBG holds Sip & Stroll events with wine and garden tours from 5 to 9 p.m.

Recently highlighted by Southern Living, this family-owned vineyard and winery is one of Charlotte’s hidden gems. Enjoy wine from the on-site Date Nite Treehouse, which you can book for $25 per hour. It can accommodate up to six adults, if you want to bring a few other couples. Live music is offered most Friday and Saturday nights.

(8) See a movie under the stars at Symphony Park
Throughout the whole month of August, SouthPark Mall is offering free outdoor movies in Symphony Park. The series begins August 5 with “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” Bring blankets, lawn chairs and snacks. Click here to see the rest of the movies scheduled throughout the month.
