The Gold District has added another tenant. Palmer Street Gamebar/Taproom/Eats (Palmer Street for short) is set to open this fall.
Located at Palmer Street and Mint Street (right outside Uptown and down the street from Unknown Brewery), Palmer Street is set to become a staple for Uptown and South End residents (and beyond) needing their game fix.
Here are some details:
- 21 and over
- Panthers parties for home games
- Classic games are on free play — no quarters needed!!!! (Note: pinball machines cost $0.50)
- No cover/memberships
- 30+ games on the floor at any given time
Beyond gaming, there will also be a kitchen to serve up some great food you wouldn’t expect at a “barcade.”
Expect deli style sandwiches, but then some classics to go with one of the 20 beers they will have on tap. (FYI: There is future liquor service planned, but not to start).
The game line up is incredible based on what I have seen so far.
On the classic games list expect: House of the Dead (my favorite), Mortal Kombat, Super Mario Bros, Donkey Kong, Tron, etc. As far as pinball machines look for Star Wars, The Walking Dead, Back to the Future, etc. They also plan to rotate one game a week to keep things interesting (please don’t ever take away House of the Dead).
With the interior, you can expect a classic gaming theme, tables for eating and conversing, a bar and a walk up window for food orders.
More on this as they get closer to opening, but as of now they are planning to be open: Monday through Thursday from 2 p.m. to 2 a.m. and Friday through Sunday noon to 2 a.m.
Personally, I whole heartedly believe Charlotte needs more of these kind of places and this being very close to where I live, I see myself here a lot (sorry to my girlfriend in advance).
Check out their Facebook to check out more of the games they have.
