If you’re staying in town this weekend, there will be plenty going on. Ease your way into summer and beach season (if you haven’t already) with some surf music from Aqualads Friday at Snug Harbor. If you’ve still never made it out to Snug, you should. Snug has a great small stage, a wonderful schedule of different types of music and one of Charlotte’s hidden gems in its back patio and bar.

Times listed are when the show is scheduled to start, not when the doors are opened. Unless listed otherwise, prices are before taxes and fees.

Agenda Picks

  • 7/1: Aqualads, Don Telling’s Island Mysteries, The Rooks; Snug Harbor, 10 p.m., $5-$7. Aqualads were founded in July 1996 and the Charlotte band celebrates two decades of guitar-heavy, drifty, instrumental surf music Friday.
  • 7/3-7/4: The Wood Brothers, Dr. Dog, The Congress, Hollis Brown, Fireside Collective, Ancient Cities; U.S. National Whitewater Center, 4 p.m., free. Music begins at 4 p.m. to close out the long weekend at the USNWC’s Fourth of July Celebration.
