SkillPop has been one of Charlotte’s hottest startups since launching last September.
The company arranges pop-up classes on topics ranging from arts and crafts to marketing. Most last an hour or two and cost around $30. A bunch of their offerings — like hand lettering classes — sell out minutes after being posted.
The company is now taking its next step: Expanding to Raleigh.
Founder Haley Bohon said she’s had a lot of interest in the company from people in Raleigh already and it seemed like a natural step. She also went to school at N.C. State, so she knows the lay of the land.
“Our whole mission is making in-person learning accessible,” she said. “It shouldn’t just be accessible in Charlotte.”
Look for classes in the Raleigh area starting this fall.
Bohon is recruiting a core group of teachers to lead the initial classes. Initially, SkillPop RDU will host one to two classes per week at locations still being finalized.
