Charlotte-based GamEffective helps companies train and motivate their employees through online software programs — and they’ve just gotten a big funding bump to expand.
The company doesn’t make games, per se, but their programs use game mechanics and graphics to represent progress. They could include quizzes or represent sales goals, for example.
Think of their programs as fitness trackers but for business metrics, Chief Revenue Officer Hadas Kasher said.

Their client list includes some of the giants of Corporate America.
Microsoft, PayPal, Ebay, HP and Trane are among the companies that uses GamEffective (pronounced Game Effective).
They just raised $7 million from Jerusalem Venture Partners.
The Israel-based venture capital firm also has invested in companies that went on to be acquired by Microsoft, Qualcomm, Salesforce.com, Xerox and Cisco Systems.
GamEffective was founded in Israel in 2009 but focus shifted to the U.S. market in 2012 and 2013 as the company moved to its current business model of gamification for large corporations. They list Charlotte as their home base in the latest announcement.

Charlotte was attractive because it’s central to much of the East Coast, has an international airport, a solid talent pool and good quality of life, Kasher said.
GamEffective will be hiring in Charlotte.
The company will primarily be looking for new account executives and members of their “customer success team,” which helps new clients with best practices on their platform, Kasher said.
