Just in time for summer, everybody’s favorite mobile popsicle cart brigade has put down roots with a brick and mortar storefront in South End.
You’ve no doubt seen one of King of Pops’ 12 carts and their signature rainbow umbrellas popped up at businesses and events around town.
Now you can get your fill of frozen treats at their very own retail location just off the Rail Trail at 2500 Dunavant Street.

Customer demand makes the new pop shop a natural addition to King of Pops cart service.
Owner Brandon DeCurtins says they used to open up their NoDa production kitchen for pop sales on Sundays but found that people would stop by all week hoping to buy straight from the shop.
When the building that housed that kitchen went up for sale they decided to relocate King of Pops to a spot that could accommodate their kitchen, administrative offices and walk-in counter sales.

It’s a big move. King of Pops is growing from 1,000 square feet to 4,000 square feet of space in the new facility.
DeCurtins says they produce anywhere from 3,000 to 12,000 pops per week depending on the season and the demand from festivals and large-scale events.
Prefer your pops from a cart? Not to worry. The new shop will not affect any of the existing cart locations.

The King of Pops retail shop will offer some specialty flavors not available in the carts or at wholesale retailers.
This includes plans for brand new chocolate-dipped popsicles. Yes, please. Sign me up.

King of Pops will host a grand opening celebration this weekend at the new South End location.
They’ll be handing out free pops all day Saturday (noon – 9 p.m.) and Sunday (noon – 7 p.m.). I suspect they will be completely slammed. Don’t miss it.
