NOW OPEN: Kandy Bar brings dessert and big city vibe to the EpiCentre

I’ve been going out Uptown forever now it feels like. It all started with me hitting up Suite right when I turned 18 years old. I continued to go through my college years at UNC Charlotte, and now when I am up for it on the weekends, I go as a business professional.

The Uptown area and nightlife in Charlotte has changed A LOT through my three stages. So, what’s the newest addition?

A brand new upscale bar called Kandy Bar.

This place brings a big-city vibe.

If you want a picture of where it is in your head, think third floor of the EpiCentre, to the right of Vault and across from Rooftop.

I’ve always personally loved the big city vibes the EpiCentre gives off and I think this new bar adds even more to that statement. I’ve experienced the night scene out in Los Angeles, New York, and Atlanta, and this hot spot really reminded me of those cities and their venues.

It is especially comparable to New York. They have a similar place called Sugar Factory, also tight on the dress code at the door.

Pro tip: You need to get dressed up.

A great tip if you do decide to step out here one night with your crew is that it is dressy.

My friend and I were kind of underdressed (as you can see above), compared to the rest of the crowd, so that is good to know for next time.

It was very hip and happening and filled with people left and right. A great plus about the place is that it’s a really decent size. It had chic wallpaper all over and gorgeous modern décor in every direction.

They’re playing techno music. It’s more of a club than a bar.

The type of music they played was mostly techno music. The loud music paired with very bright neon purple lights and ladies serving up bottles seemed to me like more of a club or lounge, than a bar.

And speaking of bottles, it has the biggest table areas I’ve ever been in. After making a few rounds to see the whole place, I went to a VIP area with a group of friends. Usually, these areas you reserve are super tight, so it was refreshing to have our own little personal area for once.

Oh, and they serve a killer dessert.

It’s a solid place place to celebrate a birthday or big occasion, or to host an event. What makes it an even better place to celebrate is that they serve dessert. Their three themes are desire, dance, and dessert. I mean, I don’t hate it.

The grand opening is this weekend.
