OMB wants to set the world record for largest cornhole tournament

They’ve got 138 teams signed up so far for the “Crowntown Throwdown.” They need to get to 161. Event is May 21 (a Saturday) so they have a little time to get there.

This will be run strictly by American Cornhole Organization rules.

That means 27 feet between the boards. Also apparently it’s called a “woody” if you get the bag to land on the board. Here are the official rules.

The current world record is held by an event in Boston.

“Cornhole Commotion,” hosted by some New England Patriots players, had 160 teams in 2014, according to the Boston Globe.

Here are the details on the Charlotte event at OMB

You have to pay $80 to get in, and you get two drinks, lunch and a shirt. Event runs from noon to 4 p.m. Each team is guaranteed three games, and the first and second place winners get YETI coolers.

The event benefits InReach, a nonprofit that helps people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
