(1) Take in the scenery, and get your walk on
There are few spaces more beautiful in Charlotte than the boardwalk on a Saturday in spring or summer. This is the perfect time to grab a friend and walk the track that wraps around the serene, blue water. You’ll forget that you’re walking. You won’t even think about the fact that you’re exercising. Enjoy the peaceful views and walk it out.

Often, especially during the summer evenings, you can also catch a free, live concert. However, this isn’t the only entertainment you’ll find at the boardwalk. Buy a cold drink, grab a seat and people watch. We are an eclectic bunch. This is a free activity that will keep you busy for a while. I promise, it’s the gift that keeps on giving.

(4) Go for a ride.
For $10 you, another adult and two children can rent a paddle boat to take out on the water. These boats are extremely popular.
(5) Hang out with some animals
Dog owners love the boardwalk. This is the perfect spot to find the humans of Charlotte and their furry friends out for a walk on the track or chilling on the balcony. However, they won’t be the only animals that you will encounter. The multitude of ducks, geese and swan add to the ambiance and create another fun activity for families, feeding the animals.
(6) Tie the knot (or take some family pictures)
Because of its sheer beauty, many people have decided to take their vows on the Boardwalk. The location is perfect backdrop for memories that will last a lifetime. The pictures and videos should turn out beautiful, and while there are typically large numbers of people that frequent this area, the space where weddings are held is private and secluded. With matrimony season around the corner, flower girls and blushing brides should be filling up the boardwalk soon.
On a sunny day, you’ll also see families taking portraits on the water. Perfect scenery.
The days are officially longer and these beautiful Carolina nights are made for adventure. While you’re creating your queen city memories that will last a lifetime, don’t forget to include the Boardwalk in your plans. It is by far one of the most magical spaces that Charlotte’s university area has to offer.
