How to eat lunch at the new Meat & Fish Co. on Morehead

You guessed it, it’s a place where you can buy meat, fish and lunch.

There is construction across the street, so parking can be rough depending on when you go.

You’ll need to decide on salad, sandwich or soup. Salads are made to order and cost $9.99/lb.

Classic deli sandwiches include Muffaletta Giant Slice ($8.99), Citrus Chicken Salad on Marble Rye ($9.75), Veggie Wrap ($8.50) and Nicoise ($12). Gourmet sandwiches include Roasted Steak ($10.99), Five Cheese Tomato Melt ($8.50) and Turkey Club Panini ($8.99).

The most popular sandwich is the roasted steak. It was difficult to manage (relatively large and sloppy), but very tasty.

Sides are extra ($2.99 for a small and $3.99 for a large) and they include Bacon Fresh Cut Potato Chips and Crispy Sriracha Spiced Onion Rings.

I ordered the bacon chips and they were solid, but nothing to write home about. If I had it over, I would have tried the onion rings.

Meat & Fish Co also offers daily specials.

Yesterday, this included Chili Verde with Karobuta Pork ($2.99 cup and $3.99 bowl), Chicken Fajita Sandwich ($8.99), Fried Green Tomatoes ($2.99), Sea Scallop Ceviche and Loaded Macaroni Salad.

Pay at the other end of the counter. Enjoy the 10-yard walk past the meat and fish. Yum.

The fish tanks behind the counter are decorative.

Except for the lobster and the crab — you can order and eat those.

Drink selection is a little too fancy for me (I prefer a soda machine). You get it, it’s the high end fancy beverage stuff.

I opted for water, which they made for me in the back area and brought out. Excellent ice.

Seating is limited. Right now, the only places to sit are the 12 wooden bar stool seats. They call out your order and you go pick it up.

Soon, they’ll add outdoor seating.
