Let’s get serious in our thinking on transportation and walkability. Enough pointless political chit chat — it’s time to make something happen.
People want this. I’m just not sure our politicians have the backbone or the imagination to make it happen.
My proposal is simple: Shut down one of these streets for a week during the summer and test measurable objectives: neighbor response, business sales on street, number of people that utilized street, etc. You get it. Simple.
Which streets?
Here are the top seven streets for a car-ban test. We should choose one of these and shut it down.
