Renderings of VBGB’s new, larger concept going next door to current location

It’s literally located across the small parking lot from VBGB. About 20 yards away. The entrance will look very cool…

It’ll be big.

8.2.0 is 12,600 square feet with an adjoining patio. VBGB is 10,800 square feet.

Target opening date is beginning of June.

Construction is well underway. (D3 Studio is doing the architecture, planning and interiors – side note: this group is killing it right now.)

8.2.0 will have an upscale karaoke lounge – which is very cool.

Why? Kara told us: “We’ve never liked the concept of just sitting around drinking… that’s why VBGB has a lot of games and activities (an adult playground) so to expand on that type of fun, we are taking it to another level. We felt like Charlotte could use an upscale karaoke lounge, one that’s still intimate in a cozy room, but has a proper stage, great rock star lighting, elevated booth seating that you can reserve for parties, yet you won’t be able to hear any of it from the bar 30 feet away, because it will be in a sound proof, glass enclosed room.

Watch out Abari, 8.2.0 will have a vintage arcade game room

The game room will be enclosed in its own glass room. Kara assured us that “you won’t spend your evening in a karaoke bar or an arcade, those are just rooms to visit. We do want to keep this totally adult, so 8.2.0 will be 21 and over at all times.”

There will be two main bars (along with a bar in each of the event rooms). Full bar.

Wine list, bottled and canned beers and a handful of craft cocktails. Craft cocktails will be on draft and Kara describes them as “quick pour, delicious, and priced a bit less expensive – it’s the promise of craft cocktails without the fuss.” But there will be no draft beer — “That’s VBGB’s specialty.”

Food will include pizza with a walk up, slice only window.

Also, get ready for pommes frites with an assortment of dips, salads and meatballs.

8.2.0 is also designed with your events in mind. The event space is legit and can hold 325 people.

Event space is broken up into three rooms, so you can book by the room or book the whole space. “The New York Room, the Paris Room, and the Lounge — three cool rooms with different but complementary vibes so it’s really flexible for what each party needs.”

Tuesday – Saturday: Opens at 4 p.m. (closing time still TBD, but it’ll be late). If you’re hosting an event, entire venue buyouts are available on Sunday and Mondays and any day before 4 p.m.

There’s also a hidden space inside of 8.2.0 that the owners won’t discuss yet

Kara said, “There’s one space hidden inside 8.2.0 we are not talking about just yet…. but it will be fun to discover!” Maybe it’s an escape room and if you don’t escape within the allotted amount of time, you’re forced to drink Michelob Ultra while watching everybody else drink craft cocktails…
