The Gold District and Lower South End are getting food truck rallies of their own

They will both try to capitalize on the enthusiasm the original Food Truck Friday garnered in the area. That event has moved to Sycamore Brewing and will launch March 11.

Here’s the rundown on the two new food truck rallies joining in.

Friday Night Festival – Gold District

Unknown Brewing and Craft Growler Shop will be sponsoring a food truck rally in between their two locations in the Gold District just south of Morehead Street. The first event will be March 4.

The plan is to have five to seven food trucks each week, starting with Cuzzo’s Cuisine, SOCA Mobile Eatery and Sauceman’s. The trucks are lower profile than other events around town, but this area is going to draw from a different set of apartment complexes around Morehead Street. It’s about a mile north of the event at Sycamore.

Organizers also plan to show movies once darkness falls, and there will be live music.

Lower South End Eats

This food truck rally will be held on Wednesdays and set up shop at Red Clay Ciderworks in the growing Lower South End area (you may know this area as Queen Park). This is a part of town growing tremendously in terms of drinking spots, with Sugar Creek Brewing, Doc Porter’s and Great Wagon Road Distillery/Broken Spoke joining Olde Mecklenburg Brewery.

The first event is scheduled for next Wednesday (February 17) with the Hiya, Two Chix And A Truck, Kronuts and What Goes Round food trucks.
