You know that old building at the corner of College and 6? The one that has BAR Charlotte and had Phoenix, Republic and Cosmo’s? It’s getting a facelift.

Aaron Ligon (principle at Ligon CRE), David Furman (architect and developer who has worked on some incredible projects in Charlotte) and Jon Dixon (local real estate entrepreneur and investor) have all come together to form the 300 North College partnership.
They are renovating the building and rebranding it as North End Station. This project will be among the first of development and renovations happening in the North Tryon corridor that will completely transform this part of town.
BAR Charlotte is rather infamous Uptown, but I must admit, it does fill a specific nightlife option that every city needs, for better or worse.
The opportunity this presents is that there can be a diverse nightlife and tenant mix at North End Station so BAR Charlotte won’t stick out like a sore thumb. I have been writing rather consistently about how nightlife in Uptown needs to grow up, and North End station provides an opportunity to bring in some new life to fill the massive gap in that nightlife segment.
The owners already have two tenants signed and hope to have North End Station fully operational a few months from now.
I love that they are saving the old building, which brings some much needed authenticity into Uptown. It was also noted that the success of the diversification of concepts at 7 Street Public Market provides the ground work and baseline for how a mixed tenant base will do well. My hope is that North End Station will continue this Uptown nightlife maturation and bring this corner back to life — both day and night.
