Sabor is opening a new restaurant in NoDa

Although Cabo Fish Taco is right next door to the new location, NoDa residents agree that there is plenty of room for the affordable, street-vendor style Latin food that Sabor is famous for. Even if you’ve never been to Sabor you may be familiar with some of their menu items if you have ever been to Three Amigos off Central. The restaurants boast the same owners, and the same quality of delicious food to fill your bellies.

Co-owner David says they have already started renovations on their new location, previously the wine bar Dolce Vita, and they plan to open in 6-8 weeks.

What makes the Latin grill unique is its array of different South American foods.

Imagine walking the streets of Latin America, hearing the steam from the grills, smelling the savory scents wafting from all of the vendors. Owners Dalton, Jason, and David have brought this experience right here to Charlotte, and soon NoDa residents can enjoy it in their own back yard.

If you haven’t been before, you can check out one of their existing locations off Hawthorne in Charlotte, in Matthews, or in Indian Trail.

With this new location they are going for a more upscale version of their vendor-style restaurant, with a full bar where you can get one (or three) of their award-winning margaritas. There will be plenty of seating for the dine-in experience as well as their traditional takeout counter.

Matty, a tattoo artist at Fu’s Custom Tattoos across the street from the new Sabor location says, “I can’t wait for the new spot to open. I’ll be eating beef empanadas for lunch every day.” The rest of the neighborhood seems pumped about real South American cuisine in the area, within walking distance of most of NoDa’s housing.

What to try:

The empanadas are lick-the-grease-from-your-fingers delicious. Filled with ground beef, spices, and gooey cheese how could this street food favorite get any better? Oh yea, it’s deep-fried.

The burritos are football-sized and bursting full of meat, rice, beans, and queso. I challenge you to finish a whole one in a sitting.

The carne asada fries are a special treat, featuring french fries loaded with grilled steak, queso, pico de gallo, guacamole, sour cream, and cotija cheese. If you’re a fan of loaded fries, try this Mexican version and let your taste buds thank you.

Taco Tuesdays are also a great time to check out what they have to offer because all tacos are $1!!
