I loved talking to Carlos Davis. His career is built around helping professionals increase their skills, but I was fascinated to learn that he goes beyond public speaking and things like that to include physical fitness and healthy living.
He’s also the brains behind Charlotte Networking Week, which kicks off its second conference in two weeks at Packard Place. Check out the schedule of events here. Pretty much everything they do is free to attend — a tribute to Davis’s success in getting sponsors. Here’s how he works.
Job title
CEO and founder of Stand & Deliver, LLC — a professional development company in Charlotte. Also founder of Charlotte Networking Week.
Office location/commute
My commute is from my upstairs bedroom to my downstairs office. I commute with my favorite slippers as I listen to my two young boys argue.
Commute time to a Stand and Deliver signature event varies, as it depends on which local business is the venue. I’m glad to work with many businesses throughout the community and I’m always thankful for their support of our events.

What everyday thing are you really good at?
Talking. My gift for gab was the catalyst for my career as a professional speaker. Now, I’m proud to use that gift to inspire others to put their talents to use in an effective and fulfilling manner.
What are your social media habits?
I am big on posting things when they happen, but I also schedule my inspirational posts to help save on time. My favorite platform right now is Periscope. I like the idea that people who can’t physically attend an event can see what we have going on. I try to “scope” three times a week.
What’s your one favorite thing about your job?
That I help improve people’s lives
