Publisher’s Note: Cristina Wilson has joined the Axios Charlotte as our Chief Operating Officer. I knew Cristina was a smart creative from my time with her at The Charlotte Observer, but when we drank an OMB Copper together on the JJ Red Hot’s rooftop patio three months ago, I was floored by her passion and vision for the business side of media. She’s smart. She’s driven. And, she’s crazy enough to quit a job she loved to do podcasting and filmmaking. Katie, Andrew and I are thrilled. – Ted

The last four months have seen huge changes in every area of my life. I left my position as the editor of Carolina Bride magazine to pursue other creative projects — like launching a daily podcast and producing a short film. I went to India, but not because of the book Eat, Pray, Love. I got engaged, I moved. One constant: I still Jazzercise.
I thought those were all the transitions in store for me, but sometimes opportunities are waiting around the inbox that you can’t even predict. Axios Charlotte has big plans for 2016 and beyond — plans too big for their team of three.
When the opportunity arose to work with Katie, Andrew and Ted, I couldn’t turn it down. If you can’t tell from their frequent admissions, the team is kind of psycho about great content, innovative media and the city of Charlotte. That’s the energy I want to be around, and the type of work that fulfills.
You’ll see me around the Agenda, writing and launching a few new initiatives, but mostly I’ll be working behind the scenes with our incredible partners.
Here’s to a year ahead with less change, and more psycho. I’m pumped.
