News capsule
NoDa Brewing, arguably the crown jewel of Charlotte’s booming craft beer scene, is turning four years old this week and is throwing a four-day party to celebrate. Highlights will include a massive number of small-batch brews carefully selected by NoDa’s brewmasters and a fancy brunch on Sunday.
Special guests include Pure Intentions Coffee, Imperial Sandwich Company, Tin Kitchen and FuManChu Cupcakes. All events will be at the new North End location. RSVP on Facebook.
Day-by-day lineup
Thursday, October 29: This is the actual four-year anniversary date. The brewery will release a “NoDable” — a small batch creation — from every brewer on the half hour. Food will be available from the Tiger Yakatori food truck. The first 100 people who show up will be entered into a raffle for prizes.
Friday, October 30: Specialty beer release all day. These include the 2013 Olde Voyager, 2014 Hot Pistol, 2014 Triumphant and 2014 Stop, Collaborate and Glisten. Food from the Gyro Twins (Greek food) food truck and music from The New Hires (folk music).
Saturday, October 31: Special beer releases on Saturday include the 2014 Monstro, 2014 Captain Peanut Butter’s Chocolate Revenge, 2015 Hot Pistol, 2015 Between the Berries and Me. Food from The Tin Kitchen (tacos) and music from Fat Face Band.
Sunday, November 1: A special birthday brunch. They’ll have Imperial Sandwich there serving breakfast sandwiches and French toast. Pure Intentions Coffee will be there pouring, and there will be some specialty cupcakes inspired by Coco Loco and Irish Carbombs from FuManChu Cupcakes. Not to mention special beer releases including 2014 BBA Monstro, 2015 BBA Olde Voyager, 2014 Imperial Coco Loco, and 2015 Captain Peanut Butter’s Chocolate Rendezvous.
Agenda take
Man, it sure seems like NoDa Brewing has been around a lot longer, hasn’t it? Hop Drop ‘n Roll has put the Charlotte beer scene on the map as much as anything else and its expansion has paved the way for other breweries to do the same. If you haven’t made it up to the new North End location (beautiful), this is a good chance to do that.
