I don’t live in South End but sometimes I wish I did. I love Craft, Bulldog Beer and Wine, Common Market and all the other beer options there. Now there’s an option for people living down the road a ways – Pintville, right on the main drag in Pineville.

The craft bar and bottle shop is opening Wednesday at 11 a.m., and will be open seven days per week after that. The soft launch will include the What Goes Round food truck (meatballs) from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.
The Pintville concept is the brainchild of husband-and-wife team Samuel Delbrouque and Natasha Young. They previously operated coffee/sandwich shops in Florida and Chicago. Delbrouqe said after they moved to North Carolina to escape the heat and cold, they picked Pineville because there’s no real craft beer option within a 6-mile radius.

Expect about 30 beers on tap at any given time, with an eclectic mix. But there should always be a Belgian or two. Delbrouqe said he grew up in France near the famous beer-making country and is a big fan of the style.

Back in the bottle shop, you’ll see the standard six-packs in bottles and cans from local brewers as well as national craft shops that score high in Beer Advocate. You’ll also see some Chicago-area favorites lie Finch’s Beer.

The artwork on the wall was painted by Young herself. She also played a huge role in finishing the bar, made from rich wood sourced in Lenoir. A Lenoir woodworker also put together the shelving and tables.
Glassware for sale is also on point. The 64-ounce growlers are nice-looking, and you can also buy Teku glasses that Delbrouque says are ideal for beer-drinking.

Delbrouqe is a home-brewer himself, but don’t expect to see Pintville to sell its own suds. That’s a whole different business model, he says. They will, however, soon add some outside seating.
