Garrett and Kayla from Ready at 7 are opening a shared working space named “Hygge”

Ready at 7 (digital marketing company) co-owners Garrett Tichy (#WeLoveCLT Leader) and Kayla Dugger have signed a lease for 809 West Hill St, Suite C (just outside Uptown, a block away from Draught). They will transform this space (previously occupied by Re Community Recycling) into a coworking space designed for small teams and individuals. The Name

• The space will be named Hygge and pronounced as ” heu-gah”
• From VisitDenmark.com: “Hygge is as Danish as pork roast and it goes far in illuminating the Danish soul. In essence, hygge means creating a warm atmosphere and enjoying the good things in life with good people. The warm glow of candlelight is hygge. Friends and family – that’s hygge too. There’s nothing more hygge than sitting round a table, discussing the big and small things in life. Perhaps hygge explains why the Danes are the happiest people in the world?”

The Space & Vibe

• 3,500 sqft. 3 main private offices (Ready at 7 will occupy one of these), large conference room, kitchen, bathrooms and large shared space room. I’ve walked the space and it has that open/factory type vibe that is common amongst coworking spaces.

• Social Design House (design studio out of Rock Hill) will be working on Hygge’s space design and branding. Team includes: Tamara, McKenna, Zan, Ben and Savannah.
• I sat down to chat with Garrett and I think it’s safe to say that he’s psycho about co-working and community. He told me, “We want to be around people that do things and to empower people to do things… I’m passionate about the education side of things and Hygge will promote learning… Everybody in our space should feel like a resource to leverage our collective knowledge.” Garrett also plans to “Highlight people in the space.”

When can I use it and what’s Hygge’s pricing model?

• Ready at 7 is moving into the space on September 1st and they’re planning a grand opening party for October 1st. Membership is available starting September 1st, but work will likely still be taking place on the space.

• Membership Levels: Private Office Membership (2 available, $800-$1,000/mo each), Dedicated Desk Membership (up to 5 available, $400 – $500/mo), Flex Desk Memberships (15 available, $150/mo) and Day Passes for $10/day.
