Just a few days ago I reported that the upcoming hotel at the EpiCentre was delayed. While that is still the case,we have additional details on this project and it will absolutely be worth the wait.

The Details
- The building will be 320 ft tall (with 225 ft of it the new structure) — 22 total floors.
- 184 rooms for AC Hotel, 116 rooms for Residence Inn (please, please change this brand).
- The 5 floor will also house the AC Hotel lobby/registration, a salon, 2 meeting rooms and 4,500 sqft of leasable space (maybe another restaurant).
- There will also be a bar and lounge area (some of the area is labeled as the “Library”) on the 5 floor. This area will be two stories with the 6 floor open to the bar and lounge area. The windows to this will be on the Trade Street side and facing the EpiCentre.
- The 7 floor will house a fitness area.
- I am still holding out hope that they go with a different brand than Residence Inn, but if they don’t their lobby is on the 14.
- The highlight of all of this — two words: Rooftop bar. On the 22nd floor there will be a bar and terrace that is approximately 5,600 sqft extending the entire length of the building along the light rail. Skylights and a standard roof structure will cover half of the this area and the remainder will be outdoors. There will also be a smaller balcony on the Trade Street side.
- Last but not least, there will be 1,226 sqft of leasable retail space on the ground floor facing Trade Street (next to the steps that currently lead up to CVS).
- BB+M Architecture is consultant on the façade design, Winford Lindsey Architect is handling the overall architecture and engineering, and McKibbon Hotel Group is the developer/owner.

Retail space and ground floor elevator entrance
This project just skyrocketed on my list of projects to be excited about. Not only are we getting plaza space on the ground floor, but also retail. And we are getting not one but two bars, one of them being 300 feet in the air. These will not be your standard hotel bars either, AC Hotel’s are very modern and these bars will cater to locals and guests. Stay tuned as more details come in.
