Starbucks mobile ordering expands to Charlotte. Play-by-play of my experience.

Yesterday, Starbucks rolled out their Mobile Order and Pay Program to 3,400 stores – including 20+ Starbucks in the Charlotte area. The Starbucks barista on Park Road told me “I just started my shift, but I’ve heard that several customers used it today. It’s brand new and just launched today.” It works beautifully, here’s a quick play-by-play.

When you press “order” your drink is routed to the Starbucks you choose and comes through their POS machine like all other orders (makes a little sticker that they put on the cup).
The barista should have the drink ready for you at the pick up area. My Green Tea Lemonade was tastier than I thought it would be.
Sure, Starbucks create effortless mobile payment experiences, but I prefer to stick with my to local boys – Enderly, Magnolia and Pure Intentions that I can find at my local coffee shops.
Nice try Starbucks, humans > technology.
