Sampling 11 food trucks in 2 hours at Charlotte Food Fight

You need to be thankful for our food trucks. I am.

On Saturday, I was one of the 10 judges at the Charlotte Food Fight. Like an idiot, I ate P.F. Chang’s the night before (Chang’s Chicken and Korean Beef). And, I ate it again at 9:17 am Saturday morning. Which is gross. I should have fasted for 24 hours to prepare.

Charlotte Food Fight is a cancer fundraiser put on by John & Kelly. It’s also a battle to determine the best food truck in Charlotte. There were three categories – special ingredient (Cackalacky sauce was this year’s ingredient), Chef’s choice (I was part of this group) and People’s choice. It’s an amazing event for an amazing cause put on by amazing people.

Food truck notes:

The story and people behind each food truck are incredible.
Taller judge, Brad Panovich, had on an OMB hat to counter my NoDa hat. Brewery support at its finest. The food truck ownership community is very tight knit.

It felt like everybody knew each other. The more high quality food trucks we have in town, the larger the overall market – therefore, I don’t think they’re competition.
