Bakery brings French flair to downtown Boulder

• The cafe opened on the west end of downtown at 921 Walnut St. in May.

What to expect: Maisonette's credentials are authentique, as owner Florian Tétart is a pastry chef and baker from Lille, France.

• Tétart has worked in top-tier kitchens around the world, including as pastry chef de cuisine at Hong Kong's two-star Michelin restaurant Écriture.

The vibe: There's lots of indoor seating and a patio beside Walnut Street.

Dig in: Maisonette offers a variety of breakfast sandwiches, plates and salads.

• But be sure to save room for dessert: the shop offers croissants, tarts, crème brûlée, flan, macaroons and even more delightful treats.
• Pro tip: They concoct a series of decadent hot chocolates throughout the winter season.

The big picture: Maisonette's arrival will hopefully help fill the bakery hole in the Boulder scene with the recent closure of Breadworks.

Stop by: Maisonette is open Tuesday through Friday 7am-3pm and Saturday-Sunday from 8am-3p.
