Buffs prepare for NFL draft

How it works: The draft is in Green Bay this year. The first round will take place Thursday, the second and third rounds are Friday, and the fourth through seventh rounds go down Saturday.

• The Tennessee Titans, the Cleveland Browns and the New York Giants have the first three picks.

Travis Hunter, who will be in Green Bay, will almost certainly go in the top three picks, with Miami quarterback Cam Ward and Penn State rusher Abdul Carter the other expected top picks in most mock drafts.

• The Buffs have never had a No. 1 pick, though running back Bo Matthews went No. 2 in 1974.

Shadeur Sanders' landing spot has been the subject of much debate. Some draft experts have him going in the top three, others put him in the top 10, and some even have him in the lower half of the first round or out of the first day altogether.

• Sanders plans to watch the draft with family and friends in either Colorado or Dallas.

The intrigue: CU wide receivers Jimmy Horn Jr., Will Sheppard and LaJohntay Wester are also hoping to hear their names in the later rounds of the draft.

• Defensive players B.J. Green, Shilo Sanders, Chidozie Nwankwo and Cam'Ron Silmon-Craig are long shots, but could sign contracts as free agents.

What we're watching: Round 1 airs at 6pm MST Thursday on ABC, ESPN and NFL Network.

• Rounds 2 and 3 air at 5pm MST Friday on ABC, ESPN2 and NFL Network.
• Rounds 4-7 air at 10am MST Saturday on ABC, ESPN and NFL Network.
